The Wild Bambino

Your Name: Amber Willson
Business Name: The Wild Bambino

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Family? Pets? Hobbies? Etc.
Hi! I’m Amber, the owner and creator behind The Wild Bambino! I am a SoCal Native born and raised. Before The Wild Bambino was born I worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room for 10 years. Married my High School Sweetheart and have been married now 11 years. After struggling with infertility with 2 years our first son was born with the help of IVF on the first try with just one egg! We were overjoyed to finally have the family we had always dreamed of.

Tell us about your business. How did you start your business and why? What do you do?
After my maternity leave was over I had realized that leaving my baby was not as easy as I though it would be to go back to work. We decided that I would stay home and give up my career for the time being to be with our son full time. Fast forward 9 months I decided to take a leap of faith and open my own children’s clothing line inspired by my little wild one. Starting on my dinning room table with a dream and the love to create, I felt I had a little bit of ME back after leaving my career. Fast forward 3 years and another son born via IVF with one try and one egg, here I am still living the dream! The shop has evolved and developed a niche that makes us who we are today. My love for music and movies is apparent in everything we make along with the nostalgia of my childhood! It has been a dream come true to be at home with my 2 boys and watch them grow everyday while also creating Hip and Fun apparel for little ones around the globe!

What inspires you?
Seeing photos of little ones making memories in my creations in one of the best feelings in the world. I’m inspired by my customs to keep thinking more outside the box and bring back the memories from their lives through pop culture designs.

What is your farewell piece of advice for someone interested in starting their own business?
To someone starting out wondering if they should take this leap of faith I would say 100% DO IT!! This calling has taken me so far outside my comfort zone that if you asked me if I ever had imagined I would be making and designing children’s apparel I would say you were crazy! But it has been the biggest blessing!

What is your favorite Candy Bar?
Reese peanut butter cups!

What is your favorite Childhood Memory?
I was a competitive gymnast for 4 years and it was the highlight of my childhood.

You are a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be?
Sweet-n-Sour Red
