Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Family? Pets? Hobbies? Etc.
I’m originally from a small town outside of Buffalo NY, I now live in Virginia with my husband pup and fluffy kitty. We are lovers of travel, most recently Thailand, China, Japan, Australia, and Singapore. Hobbies include eclectic interior styling, cooking and margaritas
Tell us about your Photography business. How did you start and why? What do you specialize in? Would you go back and do anything differently?
I started my photography after spending a year while we lived in the Hawaii trying to get hired in my old career of corporate banking. After a year of non-stop rejection, I said screw it and invested in myself. I started out doing EVERYTHING! Birthing photography, tried it; families, yep; Newborn, oh yeah, and even pets! The day I second shot my first wedding is one I’ll never forget, I had THE moment where I stopped in my tracks and thought ‘I f*ing love this’. Since that day 1.5 years ago I’ve shot 105 weddings, and over 200 couples.
The one thing I’d do different is express my creativity fearlessly. It took time and distance from other creative noise for me to stand strong in how I serve my clients, my creative process, and my style.
Has it been a smooth road? Have you encountered struggles that you could share?
Smooth? Oh no, but I learn fast, fail forward and pivot faster than Ross can get his couch up the stairs.
Struggles, I mentioned struggling with being confident in my creativity. I think most of us face that as creatives, however learning to distance yourself from the noise of what everyone else is doing is very healthy for your creative mind.
Also don’t name your business a name that even your mom can’t pronounce….aka stop trying to make Fetch a thing. My first business name was DandiDeLine….yep even my mother couldn’t say it correctly.
What do enjoy the most about what you do? What do you enjoy the least?
I enjoy the balance between creative and business hustle. It’s a perfect balance for me. Add in a dash of people happily in love and I’m happy as a clam!
I don’t enjoy: editing & book keeping.
What inspires you?
Freedom. I’m a peacock you gotta let me fly! Give me the basics and stand back. Also travel, each time I travel somewhere creativity flows through my like crazy! I buy up foreign fashion magazines, take in the colors…basically I open my creative pores and let all the inspiration seep in.
What is your farewell piece of advice for someone interested in taking the first steps toward entering into your field?
Work. There’s no quick ‘get rich’ or ‘get popular’ button. Show up, do work and push yourself to be better. Lastly, stop comparing yourself on social media.

What is your favorite Childhood Memory?

You are a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be?
